We offer traditional metal braces to help patients achieve a beautifully straight smile. Dr. Black is proud to be the only orthodontist in the area using SureSmile® digital technology, which ensures orthodontic care in Lynchburg that is both effective and efficient. Dr. Black also offers clear custom digital Lightforce braces as well as clear aligners.

Clear aligners are a discreet alternative to traditional fixed braces. Clear Aligners is a system that gradually straightens teeth using a series of trays custom fit to each individual smile. Clear Aligners are virtually undetectable and can be removed when eating or drinking, so no diet changes are required, as opposed to fixed braces that stay attached to your teeth for the duration of the treatment.

Braces friendly foods are those soft foods that do not break the bonding between the bracket and the tooth. While it’s important to avoid hard, crunchy or sticky foods like nuts and gummies, Dr. Black wants her patients to eat a healthy diet while in treatment. She has put together  a Braces-Friendly Cookbook to help you stay creative with your meals without interrupting your smile journey. We add new recipes often so be sure to check it several times during treatment.

Orthodontic treatment may help support better sleep and overall wellness. Dr. Black is the only Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine in the Lynchburg, Virginia area and is qualified to treat certain sleep-related conditions by using orthodontic treatment or sleep apnea appliances. If you suffer from obstructive sleep apnea or present any sleep disordered breathing symptoms, please schedule a consultation with Dr. Black.
