THE “OFFICIAL” NO EATS BRACES FOOD LIST
We all know Dr. Black’s #1 rule for Braces:
“Avoid anything hard, crunchy, or sticky!”
The food listed could possibly break your brackets/appliances. This braces food list does NOT include everything, but is meant to act as a guideline!
Remember, if you’re questioning whether or not you can have it, refer back to Dr. Black’s #1 rule and food list!
***This information is for patients with braces and other fixed appliances only. If you wear Invisalign®, simply remove your aligners before eating (make sure you brush your teeth and replace your aligners promptly after eating).
CANDY AND SWEETS
Sweets can be eaten sparingly but it is very important that you brush or rinse your mouth immediately after eating them. The sweets will not cause damage to your braces but they will cause damage to your teeth. This is how you get those permanent white spots on your teeth while wearing braces. The worst of all the sweets are soft drinks. It does not matter if the soft drink is diet or not, it will have the same effect on your teeth. We ask that you please try to stay away from soft drinks during your treatment.
