iTERO DIGITAL SCANNER
The iTero digital scanner is a new, modern way to capture 3D images of your teeth and oral structures without using the older method of goopy impression trays. The iTero Digital Scanner ensures a more accurate impression from the start, resulting in improved treatment and a more comfortable patient experience.
How Does it Work?
Guiding an intraoral wand around each tooth surface, a 3D model of your upper and lower teeth will be captured and uploaded to the computer. You will be able to visualize your 3D images immediately and Dr. Black can provide feedback about your bite and dentition. Based on the scan data, Dr. Black will be able to determine the best treatment option to help you achieve the beautiful, healthy smile you deserve.

TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR ALIGNERS IN GREAT CONDITION
Perhaps one of the most appealing features of Invisalign® treatment is being able to straighten your smile discreetly. Appalachian Orthodontics of Lynchburg offers some tips to help maintain the translucent appearance of your Invisalign®.
- Place clean aligners on clean teeth – Preferably, you should brush your teeth after each meal to remove any debris and rinse the aligners before placing them back in your mouth. If you do not have a toothbrush, we recommend rinsing your mouth with water or mouthwash to remove any residual food particles
- Use the protective case to carry aligners – Appalachian Orthodontics of Lynchburg will provide an aligner case for you to safely carry your aligners with you. Placing your aligners in the case when you are eating will help prevent the loss of or damage to the aligners.
- Use a soft bristled toothbrush to gently clean aligners – Using a small amount of toothpaste, gently brush the aligners on the inner and outer surface so as to not damage the finish on the aligner.
Rinse aligners under cool water – Aways rinse aligners with cool water, as hot or boiling water will warp the aligner and it will no longer fit into its proper position on your teeth.

CLEANING DON’TS
Appalachian Orthodontics of Lynchburg would like to remind patients of some ‘cleaning don’ts’ to avoid during treatment.
- Avoid placing aligners in hot or boiling water
- Avoid using abrasive cleaners that might scratch or blemish the surface of the aligner
- Avoid soaking aligners in mouthwash, as it might discolor the aligners, making them more visible
- Do not soak your aligners in denture cleaning solution, as it is abrasive to the plastic
