Dr. Black was absolutely amazing. I have had my braces off for approximately 10 years but had my permanent retainer break. Although she was not my original orthodontist, she made time to meet me the day my retainer broke and repaired it very nicely. She and her staff were so nice and very helpful during this experience!

We went to a local orthodontist, but they didn’t make him feel as comfortable. We travel over an hour to go here because the way they treat you and the services provided are completely worth it!

Dr. Black offers a great experience for your child and is truly in expert in her field. One of our children is finishing his treatment and one is just beginning. They always have music playing, and the team is very attentive. They’re quick to take care of you, and the hospitality goes beyond just orthodontics. My parents and I have never had any issues or confusion. It’ll be tough finding somewhere else to go from college, if I ever need to, since they’ve set the bar so high.

Dr Black is awesome. My son did the Invisalign and while at first I was hesitant to do this, thinking he wouldn’t be very good with that, he did great! Dr. Black, and the whole staff is great ! I dreaded getting braces for my son because I am always having to tell him to brush his teeth and worrying if he would brush good with traditional braces. She introduced us to Invisalign and I was a little hesitant but I am so glad we gave it a try. He can remove them to eat and brush his teeth which is great for us. His teeth are doing great you can see the progress as it happens and is ahead of schedule to get them off.

Truly blessed to have found Dr. Black and her awesome staff! I went there to fix my bite and ended up getting my life saved. During the first consultation, almost immediately, she was able to see that I had sleep apnea and needed to get that fixed before proceeding with braces. She referred me to an oral surgeon and it was determined that I needed surgery, to which I did. She was there for me and my family every step of the way. A true family doctor! Now I’m sleeping great and, oh yeah, my teeth and bite are pretty nice too :). I’d give the entire practice 10 stars if I could.

There are not enough stars to rate Appalachian Orthodontics!! Dr. Black is an incredibly skilled and caring professional, and her staff immediately puts you at ease. I never had braces, but really wanted straight teeth for my wedding. I was so nervous during my consultation, but Dr. Black and her team were so loving and helpful! Getting braces at 24 is daunting, but I’m SO GLAD that I did! It was such a gift not to worry about my smile on my wedding day! Not only do I love my wedding pictures, but I feel more confident in my daily life as well. I am so grateful for the care and support of the AOL family. I’d recommend them in a heartbeat!

I was supposed to get braces when I was 12, but that got postponed until I was 24. I was very nervous about getting braces on as an adult, but I have truly loved being a part of the AOL family! I have only had my braces on for 4 months, but I can already tell a HUGE difference, and get complimented on my smile almost every day! Amazing experience! The staff was all very friendly, considerate, and accommodating. I’m in Lynchburg for school and I was a bit nervous going to an orthodontist besides my one back home, but I felt very well taken care of and reassured!

We absolutely LOVE Dr. Back and her staff! They treat my children as their own. My children love to go to her office where she has snacks set out, toys, movies, and books for the younger group! She talks to them, she sings, and she dances to the music while working! She is amazing! We love them!!! The whole staff also dressed up as the Wizard of Oz for Halloween! I love that they are their for the children. And they also let the children check themselves in which my children love because it makes them feel independent!

We cannot say enough about Dr. Black and her amazing staff! Our 11 year old suffers from anxiety and the fear of headgear and braces was tremendous. Dr. Black’s patience and kindness have been above anything we have ever experienced. The time she takes is unlike anything we have every seen. She treats us like family instead of patients.

Appalachian Orthodontics is one of those rare hidden gem businesses that actually care about their patients like they are their own family members. I have never felt more heard and appreciated at a business. She treats me like I am her own daughter. She is so caring, attentive, and authentic. Her entire staff is super professional and they are very prompt. I almost wish she hadn’t done such a good job on my teeth so that I could keep going to her. I got Invisalign and was done within a year now I am in the retainer phase. Even though I am done with treatment technically, anytime I have a concern not matter how small, she still squeezes me into the schedule and listens to me and tries to help me find a solution.

I can’t recommend her business enough to people. I talk about her business with anyone who is willing to listen. If you are wondering if you should get Invisalign or braces or just want someone to consult with to see if you’re a good orthodontic candidate, please give Dr. Black’s office a try. There is absolutely no pressure to buy anything, they just want what’s best for you and will not recommend things just to get money. They actually care and they want whatever’s best for you even if you don’t choose them as the place where you go. It’s definitely worth a consult.

The process was so easy, so painless, and I would go to them again and again if I had to. The community outreach that Dr. Black participates in is also one of the drawing factors I had toward her business.
